It Felt Creepy Just Holding It, Imagine Opening It Up To Read

This book used to give me the creeps as a kid (the first edition with the glove on the cover). As a kid, I was able to catch 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' on TV, but didn't get a chance to watch the others until I grew up. I have been a fan ever since. "In the old days" there was no Netflix, no way to rent Rated-R movies, and no way to just watch it on TV. Because of that, this book was the only way for me to experience the first three movies.

I remember this book very vividly from my childhood. My sister and I went to the library once a week to borrow a lot of books. I discovered this book in the young adult section, as it seemed to draw attention to itself on the shelf. Holding it in my hand, I felt Freddy's influence on it, like it was something I shouldn't touch, let alone open up to read. I'm not trying to be funny or make things up, I literally got the creeps handling this book. I got the courage to check it out to read at home.

Of course being ten or however old I was, I was a lot more impressionable, but that's what made this book even better. Your imagination is just out there, and reading a book like this just takes you to places. It took some effort to will myself to opening this as it physically affected me and gave me goosebumps whenever I tried. Reading it transported me into the world of A Nightmare on Elm Street again, and my imagination did the rest. I turned out to be a well-rounded adult after reading this.

That's my memory of this book as a child. Now as a grown up, I decided to rebuy that first edition [see photos]. I still got a sense of dread when I handled it. But you know what? The nightmares are priceless to me. Recommended.

A trilogy of cuttingly good adaptations. *mild spoilers*

This book collects written adaptations of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE, and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS.
As the other review mentioned, the novelization to part 3 is very, very different from the film. It was obviously written from an early draft. However, it's still worth reading.
And the recreations of the first two films are also nice, as well.
One nice touch is that all three made a major running theme of Freddy's dependence on fear, which was largely left out in the final film of Part 3 and not touched on again until 2003's Freddy vs. Jason.
Recommended for slasher fans or movie novelization fans.

A Nightmare trilogy

I just ordered these books and must say if anyone is thinking about getting them...do so, not only will you get a good group of stories, but you cannot beat the price, three books in one ain't bad, I now have the whole series except for part 6 (which I will be ordering soon) if you're a fan of the films you should enjoy them in novel form as well.

Hence, there is a need to employ models that are robust, user-friendly, and practical and that do not have the shortcomings of the existing methods. Artificial intelligence methods meet this need. Soft Computing in Water Resources Engineering: Artificial Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic and Genetic Algorithms introduces the basics of artificial neural networks (ANN), fuzzy logic (FL) and genetic algorithms (GA). It gives details on the feed forward back propagation algorithm and also introduces neuro-fuzzy modeling to readers. Artificial intelligence method applications covered in the book include predicting and forecasting floods, predicting suspended sediment, predicting event-based flow hydrographs and sedimentographs, locating seepage path in an earth-fill dam body, and the predicting dispersion coefficient in natural channels. The author also provides an analysis comparing the artificial intelligence models and contemporary non-artificial intelligence methods [empirical, numerical, regression, etc.]. The ANN, FL, and GA are fairly new methods in water resources engineering. The first publications appeared in the early 1990s and quite a few studies followed in the early 2000s. Although these methods are currently widely known in journal publications, they are still very new for many scientific readers and they are totally new for students, especially undergraduates. Numerical methods were first taught at the graduate level but are now taught at the undergraduate level. There are already a few graduate courses developed on AI methods in engineering and included in the graduate curriculum of some universities. It is expected that these courses, too, will soon be taught at the undergraduate levels.

About the Author
Prof. Dr. Gokmen TAYFUR is an associate professor in the Civil Engineering Department at the Izmir Institute of Technology where he teaches graduate courses on numerical methods in engineering, artificial intelligence methods in engineering, hydrology and hydraulics, and non-point source pollution. He also teaches undergraduate courses on numerical methods and analysis in engineering, He received his Ph.D. and MS degrees from the University of California in Davis and his undergraduate degree from Istanbul Technical University. His research interests include Surface and subsurface flows; Rainfall-runoff induced erosion/sediment transport; Solute transport in saturated and unsaturated zone; Solute transport by surface flows; Application of artificial intelligence methods in water resources engineering and water quality. He has written numerous conference and journal papers and research reports on those topics.

About the Author

David Winter is Professor of Clinical Psychology, and Programme Director of the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, at the University of Hertfordshire, UK. He has applied personal construct psychology in clinical practice and research for 40 years, with over 150 publications including Personal Construct Psychology in Clinical Practice (1994) and Personal Construct Psychotherapy: Advances in Theory, Practice and Research (Wiley, 2005).

Nick Reed is Director of the Centre for Personal Construct Psychology in the Department of Psychology and Sports Sciences, University of Hertfordshire, UK. Nick has taught and practised personal construct psychology for over 15 years and has experience of applying PCP in diverse contexts including organisational change, environmental consultancy, teacher effectiveness and the training of junior doctors.
